It's been so long since I've had to type it as its stored (somewhere) in my Win10 RDP that I can't rmember the password (I'm not as young as I was *sigh*).

I can't find any .rdp file and if I try to change my password on the Windows Server 2012 Kimsufi it gives dire warnings of losing acces to things.

Does anyone know how to recover the stored RDP credentials or if it's safe to reset my account password on the server as I can't change it since I don't know the current password.

Hello,

I would recommend proceeding with changing your password if you still have access to your server.

Which OS are you running?

Hi, I still have access via RDP so the password is saved somewhere in my Win10 but so far no recovery prgoram/routine has disclosed it.

The server is running Windows Server 2012.

You should be safe to change the password via the OS.

The only hiccup you may run into is if your have scheduled tasks setup to run as your user. You would need to update the password for the scheduled task(s), but otherwise there shouldn't be any issues.

Thanks SysAdmin, I've decided to back up the TB of data to Gdrive and reinstall Windows instead, making a note of the password this time.
